Joseph Paul “Joe” DiMaggio perhaps was the most famous baseball player ever.
He played 13 years for the New York Yankees, and in 1969 he won the
sport’s greatest living player award. He had two brothers and their careers were as
baseball major league centre fielders. By the way, there was a problem
at the Yankee stadium for right handed hitters. In its deep left and centre
fields it was almost impossible to get a home run. Anyway, DiMaggio got
married to a famous film star called Marilyn Monroe but sadly she filed
for a divorce on grounds of mental cruelty, 247 days after the marriage,
and the reason was related to the famous dress blowing scene in ‘The
Seven Year Itch’ movie. DiMaggio’s biographer was Richard Ben Cramer.
